The Concerto for Cello and Orchestra written by Peabody graduate and South Shore Symphony cellist Scott Zarchy and dedicated to the orchestra's brilliant principal cellist, Wayne Lipton will begin this first concert of the season. Also featured are the music of Richard Wagner and Gustav Mahler.

We usher in the holiday season with Tchaikovsky's classic ballet The Nutcracker. Our production has no equal anywhere on Long Island! The South Shore Symphony, led by Music Director Scott Jackson Wiley, summons all its forces to accompany a 90 member corps de ballet under the artistic direction of Joan MacNaughton of Leggz Ltd. Dance. In addition to the composer's full score and ballet stars of international prestige, featuring principal dancers who have appeared with the American Ballet Theatre, Kirov Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet "Moving Out", Joffrey Ballet, Metropolitan Opera Ballet and Moiseyev Ballet, this magical extravaganza features talented and gifted young dancers from all over the metropolitan area.

Join the Symphony featuring well-known and highly-respected pianist Karen Faust Baer for a celebration of Beethoven's works to warm up a chilly winter evening. Ms. Baer, a Julliard graduate who was acknowledged in "Who's Who of American Women," has performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Tanglewood Music Center, C.W Post College and other venues in the Metropolitan area. She also performs as half of the Nelson-Baer duo, a two-piano duet team. Ms. Baer is currently the vocal and music director at South Side High School in Rockville Centre.
The Symphony is proud and honored to have Ms. Baer join us to perform Beethoven's Concerto No. 5 in E flat, directed and conducted by Scott Jackson Wiley.

As we welcome the change of season in April, the Symphony will perform a challenging work by Stravinsky, Sacre du Printemps (the Rite of Spring). Opera will be well represented with excerpts from Verdi's beloved and timeless opera La Traviata featuring soprano Victoria Atwater, tenor Bruce Reed and baritone Larry Harris.
