Stanley Drucker, Clarinet

Clarinetist Stanley Drucker, one of the most distinguished musicians of our time, has enjoyed a brilliant and stellar career. At the conclusion of the 1997-1998 season Mr. Drucker celebrated 5O years as a member of the New York Philharmonic and was named Musical America's 1998 Instrumentalist of the Year. When at the age of 19 he was appointed to the New York Philharmonic he was already a veteran, having been principal clarinet of the Indianapolis Symphony from the age of 16 and the Buffalo Philharmonic at 18. Mr. Drucker has always maintained an active solo career in addition to his Philharmonic duties, appearing as solo recitalist and with chamber ensembles throughout the world. Prior to this performance, Mr. Drucker will have recently completed a tour of Japan. Every facet of Mr. Drucker's career has been amply documented by numerous recordings, two of which have been nominated for Grammy Awards in the category of Best Instrumental Soloist/ Classical with Orchestra. A hero to generations of music-lovers, Stanley Drucker, born in Brooklyn and an adopted Long Islander, is indisputably a living legend.
