Holliday Haynes, alto

Holliday Haynes is a principal cantor at St. Agnes Cathedral, often seen live on television from the Cathedral on Christmas and Easter. Ms. Haynes began early music training at the Greenwich House School of Music, studying piano, percussion, and voice. She continued studies at the Interlochen School in Michigan. A graduate of the Performing Arts High School, Oberlin Conservatory, and Brooklyn College, Holliday has performed extensively in oratorio and art song in the New York area and Europe. She was a favorite soloist for performances of New Music at St. Mark's, Greenwich Village.

Previous performances at St. Agnes include: Verdi's Requiem Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's Mass in C, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, and various cantatas of Bach. In 1990 she toured as a guest soloist with the Choir of Men and Boys to Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. She played percussion in ensembles for off-Broadway shows. She sang, recorded, and toured with the renowned Sine Nomine Singers under the direction of Harry Saltzman for 13 years. She recently returned from a three-week tour to the Czech Republic, East Germany, and Austria with the chamber choir, Voce da Camera. She is a founding singer and board member of the noted Long Island group. She is Vice President of Global Payment Solutions at MasterCard International, New York. She is the daughter of the late Mr. Frank Haynes, noted jazz saxophonist with extensive recordings and Shaw-Lee Haynes, a jazz singer of Greenwich Village, New York City. Holliday is thrilled to be performing Mahler's Symphony No. 2 with the Chorale and the South Shore Symphony!
