Wayne Lipton, Cello

Wayne Lipton, is that rare person, a true polymath. He is not only a gifted and dedicated musician and cellist, but a husband and father, a successful businessman, community leader (Deputy Mayor and Trustee of the Village of Rockville Centre), and a collector of contemporary art.

Wayne graduated from Harvard College in 1973 with a degree in biochemistry. He furthered his education at the University of Chicago Business School. For the first twenty years of his business career, Mr. Lipton was the owner and operator of Richmind Way Drug Stores in New York. Currently, Mr. Lipton is Senior Vice President with MDV1P, Inc, a physician services company in Boca Raton, Florida.

Mr. Lipton is Vice President of the RVC Guild for the Arts and President of the South Shore Symphony where he has played as principal cello for over 17 years. He helped bring the Symphony to Rockville Centre in 1989. He has been president and producer of I5 years of concerts (over 75 conceits) in Rockville Centre and has played a major role in productions of the Nutcracker full Ballet with Leggz Dance, The Messiah at St. Agnes Cathedral, and the Annual RVC fireworks concerts.

As a youth, Wayne was taught by Channing Robbins at the Juilliard School of Music. Mr. Lipton plays regularly as a soloist and in a variety of chamber music groups.
